CERTIFICATION IN NURSE COACHING, NC-BC AND HWNC-BC
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Due to a delay in the publication of the document, "ART AND SCIENCE OF NURSE COACHING: The Provider's Guide to Coaching Scope and Competencies", we have extended the Phase-in period by three (3) months. Cut-off date set for March 31, 2012 is now June 30, 2013. Eligibility criteria during the Phase-In period remain the same. Candidates applying during this period of time who do not have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing will need to sit for the examination by March 31, 2014. We will update our Nurse Coach Application and Handbook as soon as possible to include the change in Phase-in dates and information on examination dates in 2014. CERTIFICATION CREDENTIALS
AHNCC offers one Certification Examination in Nurse Coaching with two possible Certification Credentials:
Nurse Coach, Board Certified (NC-BC); or
Health and Wellness Nurse Coach, Board Certified (HWNC-BC) (Applicable to nurses currently certified as a Holistic Nurse only)
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NURSE COACH

Registered Nurses from all specialties and areas of practice will be eligible to take the Nurse Coach Certification Examination and earn the Nurse Coach, Board Certified ( (NC-BC). AHNCC Certified Holistic Nurses who successfully pass the Nurse Coach Certification Examination qualify for the Health and Wellness Nurse Coach credential, HWNC-BC.

Core Essentials of the Nurse Coach Knowledge Base
Knowledge and skills esssential for the Nurse Coach are driven by the Standards of Care and defined as Competencies. The inclusion and weighting of competencies are validated by the Role-Delineation Study. A preliminary draft of these essentials can be found here. T

The Nurse Coach Certification Examination
Examinations are administered by the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC) throughout the year for a two-week period of time in more than 400 locations.
Once candidates have completed the Application to Qualify for Certification which includes their planned date for the examination, they will be notified that they are eligible to sit for the examination. At this time, candidates can complete registration for the Certification Examination by clicking here.
Candidates must successfully pass the examination to become Certified in Nurse Coaching. If a candidate fails the examination, he/she will be eligible to retake it no sooner than three (3) months and no longer than one (1) year from the date of the first examination.
